“Music for the Mountains”: Awards, Grants and Sponsorships

AMS believes that it is essential that there be no entrance charge for any of the concerts in the region of La Taha. However, it is an expensive business bringing musicians from all over the world, accommodating them and rewarding them for their contribution to the area’s cultural life. As a result, AMS is looking into sources of funding to ensure that these events can continue to a such high standard while remaining free of charge for the audience.
The local Town Hall is working to help AMS find some of the money through local government funds, however, since the overall population is barely 1000 people, the available budget is not large. There are other options and organisations within Spain itself that present possibilities, but there are very few local businesses from which to attract sponsorship. As a result AMS is looking into alternative sources of funding to ensure these events can continue.
Certain individuals in both Spain and Britain have already expressed an interest in offering financial aid, and AMS is hoping to set up a ‘donations’ fund’ so that individuals can become patrons, and contribute to either the running costs of the concerts or provide scholarships and bursaries to enable students and musicians on low incomes to attend AMS courses.

AMS is in the process of becoming a charitable foundation.

Grand Piano fund

AMS is presently looking into acquiring a grand piano for the newly renovated recital room in the basement. If you would like to make a donation towards the grand piano fund please contact us.

AMS would like to thank the following for their generous offers of help and support throughout 2004:
-Insight Visual for providing most of the photography for the website and brochures
-The Town Hall in Pitres for their practical and financial assistance
-The Hotel Auberge de Mecina for their patronage of the festival 'The Tempest in La Taha'
-'Cueva de la Mora Luna', Mecina, for providing the venue, publicity and general hospitality during the concerts
