Las Alpujarras, an economically and culturally deprived area of Europe, offers AMS an exciting and challenging role, bringing predominantly Classical music to a traditional Spanish community. The following is a list of the objectives of AMS:
·To provide high quality, affordable teaching for music students and musicians with injuries and tension
·To cultivate an atmosphere conducive to learning, developing, relaxing and rejuvenating
·To promote the Festival “Music For the Mountains”
·To provide high quality live performances for local villages in unusual historic and rural locations
·To provide a platform for local musicians and young international artists while respecting the life and culture of La Alpujarra
·To promote both Western Classical and traditional Spanish music
·To act as a two way portal for British musicians wishing to perform in La Alpujarra and residents of La Alpujarra wishing to have an opportunity to visit London and the UK
·To commission and perform new compositions
·To produce a CD each year of the performances in “Music For the Mountains” |
