The Alexander Music School is pleased to be associated with the forthcoming summer tour of the award winning City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra.

Cat Jary has been a tutor of the orchestra since 1990. Her role has changed since that time, having been both lower strings tutor and general strings tutor. Since 2001, Cat has been the Alexander Technique teacher on the orchestra’s Easter and summer residential courses.

Whilst the Alexander Music School is not a suitable venue to host the 90 members of CSYO visiting the Alpujarras this summer, Cat Jary and School Manager Barbara Lynch have been instrumental in helping the tour take shape. The unique combination of Barbara’s previous experience working with Scottish Opera, coupled with her last ten years full-time involvement living in the Alpujarras, has helped to smooth the way for the orchestra.
The orchestra will be based in a hotel on the outskirts of Trevelez, allowing them excellent opportunities to both rehearse and relax in stunning surroundings.

The City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra will be the first full sized symphony orchestra to play in the Alpujarras.
The concert in Granada is part of the VII International Masterclass and Piano Festival with Cuban Pianist, Leonel Morales.

The concerts planned are as follows:

Saturday 24th July Almunecar.
Sunday 25th July Granada, Centuro Cultural
Manuel de Falla.
Monday 26th July Main Square, Pitres, Las Alpujarras.
