The Tempest String Quartet

About Liviu Popescu:

Liviu Popescu studied the viola at the Royal College of Music with Grigori Zhislin and is currently undertaking postgraduate study at the Birmingham Conservatoire with Rivka Golani. Throughout the past two years Liviu has been principal violist of the Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony and Chamber Orchestras; he is winner of the Alfred Gibson Viola Prize and the Birmingham Conservatoire Strings Prize.

Liviu has also worked with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the world’s foremost conductors. He participated in the 1999 Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan and the 2001 Mizra ‘Music in the Valley’ summer music course in Israel. In June 2003, Liviu was invited to perform in the Dacia – Romanian Music Festival based in Birmingham.
