The "'Music in the Mountains" festival is a series of predominantly classical concerts taking place in and around the seven picturesque white villages of La Tahá in the Alpujarras in the south of Spain. The Alpujarras is a large and beautiful mountainous area which includes the southern side of the Sierra Nevada range.
AMS created this festival to bring musicians from all over the world to perform in the area alongside Alpujarran musicians. The concert locations include the threshing floors, plazas and churches of the villages. This very popular festival is now in its seventh year.
The Town Hall of La Taha was trying to prohibit the Alexander Music School putting on the concerts for Music in the Mountains. Fortunately in the recent local elections La Taha has a new mayor, who is delighted to help the Alexander Music School continue with the concerts and projects.
Thank you to all those who supported the musicians by signing the petition and adding it to their Facebook.
